On Saturday I got to go on a date with this cute little boy. While spending this special time with him I just kept thinking about how grown up he is. Racer will be 5 soon and will be starting kindergarten in the fall. He's getting too heavy for me to comfortably lift. We went miniature golfing and he did just as well as me! (Not that I'm a miniature golfing pro or anything. . .) Listening to him I realized that he doesn't sound like a baby at all anymore. He's full blown kid now. I'm proud of how he's turning out, despite my less than perfect parenting.
Racer is often the peacemaker in our home. He doesn't like to get in trouble and really tries hard to obey. He takes good care of his sisters. I'm so glad he came first because he will be a great example for the rest to follow.
It's sad for me to realize how hard it's getting to remember what he was like as a baby. I think I'll always miss my babies. They really do grow up too fast! But it is also fun to watch them grow. I wish I was better at enjoying every minute because they're passing by quickly. (And this is when we all burst into song, The years have passed like summer dew upon the grass. . . the little boy that held our hand grew up so fast. . ." Can anyone name that tune and movie?)
