Hooray for spring and Easter fun!

I realize the first day of spring was a couple weeks ago, but for us it was last week when our first flower popped!   We were all very excited to see it.

Then, on Saturday before Easter we decided to go to our town's easter egg hunt.  We've not yet done this with the kids, although I don't know why.  My kids are quite timid and I was kind of nervous for them.  I recall many childhood races, hunts, whatever, where I ended up with . . . less than I hoped for.  I worried they would get trampled by the more aggressive children and come out of it with nothing.  Well my worries were unfounded!  I felt so proud.  :)

Later that day we decorated eggs at home.

The next day we went to the wild Durrant family egg hunt.  This  is a tradition that hast lasted for at least 3 generations now.  It takes place in a cow pasture behind the home my great grandma lived in her whole life.  Now two of my great aunt's live there.  I'm so glad they keep this tradition alive.  It was definitely a highlight of my own childhood and it's so fun to see my kids taking part.  (Cow pies and all!)

One of the highlights this year was my aunt Alta (you can see her in the background) in her new motorized wheel chair.  I'm not sure when the last time was she actually came back to watch the egg hunt.  So fun that she got to!  She also got a kick out of chasing the kids around. . . :)

Taking a picture in front of this tree has also kind of become a tradition for some reason.  Here's all the cute little kiddos.
Happy Easter!

  1. I had no idea it was such a long-standing tradition. I love the pictures you got.
