My in-laws

I always feel bad for people who say they don't like their in-laws. Mine are great! (and I'm not just saying that to earn some brownie points with the ones that I know read this.) Really, I couldn't have found a better family to join.

Last month we all gathered home from 4 different states to have a little reunion. It was well worth the long hours in the car for our family. We had a great time and felt sad when it was time to go.
It never ceases to amaze me how the cousins just pick up where they left off no matter how many months it has been since they were last together. They had non-stop fun.

This is Rue with her great grandpa. He is such a great patriarch of our family. He always has great stories and jokes to tell. I'm so glad my kids have been able to know him a little.
Here's Racer with his favorite cousin. These two are 4 months apart in age and seriously hit it off as babies. It's been fun to watch them grow up together. (It's too bad they can't get married. Wouldn't they make a cute couple?)
The poor kids were exhausted! We basically just let them play until they crashed every day.
The reason we all got together was to celebrate my mother in-law's 50th birthday. We tried to make it a special day for her. I hope it was! She deserves it. She is such an inspiration to me. I am amazed at how well she has managed to raise 8 children. And she does so much more! She has got it together better than most people I know.
We put together a little program for her entertainment. It really was pretty funny.

We're hoping for a few boys to join Racer in the future, but isn't this a cute lot?
And isn't my husband hot?

I love all these girls. I truly feel like I belong with them. We talk and laugh the whole time we're together. They've introduced me to the wonderful world of yard sales and thrift shopping. I'm constantly trying to learn from their many varied talents.

You see? Great family. Great times! Can't wait to do it again at Christmas time!
(We were also able to take a little side trip to Seatle but I thought I'd share those pictures on a separate post. So, coming next time. . .)
