Things I'm Grateful For When My Kids Are Sick

First of all, happy Thanksgiving! I hope yours was great. We spent ours in a place that resembles the north pole with all of my husband's family and we had a blast! Unfortunately, we came home with a few sickies.

<- Here's Racer and Ariel, complete with barf buckets.

I don't enjoy having sick kids. My natural response to a day like today would be to complain. I'm pretty good at that. Right now, however, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I've decided to think about the positive. So here is my list of things I feel grateful for when my kids are sick.

1. I'm grateful
Rue's not throwing up. She's just got a cold, much easier!
2. I'm grateful to know they will most likely be better in a couple days. It makes me sad to think of children in hospitals. Very sad.
3. I'm grateful to have insurance. We didn't for a year and I felt very insecure. I like knowing that I can take my kids to a doctor if they need one and it won't cost me an arm and a leg just to have them checked. (I'll try not to think about how much we've paid for said insurance. . .)
4. I'm grateful for air fresheners.
5. I'm grateful for extra hugs and snuggles.
6. I'm grateful for the break it is to have my kids watch movies all day.
7. I'm grateful to be reminded how much I love my kids. Seeing them sick boosts my motherly power and helps me focus on them a bit more.
8. I'm grateful for medicine.
9. I'm grateful I feel well enough to take care of them. It's miserable to take care of sick people when you're sick.
10. I'm grateful we're getting it out of the way before Christmas because I LOVE Christmas and am so glad it's here!

All in all, I know it could be worse. So, what are you grateful for today?

  1. Your Thanksgiving sounds a bit like mine...only my baby was the one that got sick - and stayed that way for a week.
