Just a mom

I often see the many things that friends do with their time and wonder what I'm really doing. Some have successful and prestigious careers, or are so creative and are constantly making beautiful things. Others are photographers, musicians, great athletes, intellectuals, you name it. I enjoy doing many different things and dabble in all these areas from time to time, but let's face it, I really am only devoted to one thing. I am a mom.

All through school whenever someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I told them I just wanted to be a mom. I blame (and thank) my own mom for this. She raised me and did it in a way that I truly thought she had the greatest job there was. She had fun. She loved being a mom. She also strongly believed in the importance of a mother raising her own children and passed that belief on to me.

Fast forward a few years, and I am now living my dream as a mom to three adorable children. It is the only career I've ever had. Is it everything I thought it would be? Yes, actually it is. It is fun, sweet, endearing, and pretty wonderful. It is also exhausting, overwhelming, frustrating, and incredibly stressful.

The purpose of this blog is to share/record my daily thoughts, feelings, ups, and downs of being a mom. It's my attempt to connect to the world and to "keep it real" and keep myself remembering that this really is the best job out there. I welcome comments from all.
